Broome Camp School

BBroome Camp School was established in 1983 and officially opened on 11th October 1985. It is located in Broome (West Kimberley), Western Australia. Broome Camp School is set in absolutely beautiful surroundings with natural bush, lush tropical gardens, wide grassed areas with magnificent views of spectacular Cable Beach.  Perfect for any school or community group camp.  The only thing limiting what you can do is your imagination!

Broome is unique to anywhere in the world. A history of pearling, beautiful weather, pristine beaches, and great fishing make it one of Australia’s number one tourist destinations.

This Camp School forms part of the Network of Camp Schools in WA run by the Department of Education and operates within their guidelines. It caters for approximately 2,200 students and adults per year, from approximately 70 schools and community groups largely from the Kimberley and Pilbara areas.  We also have visitors from other parts of WA, Australia and Internationally.

Broome Camp School provides a positive experience for students attending camp; while at the same time gives the opportunity for curriculum linked experiential learning to take place whilst having the time of their lives! We like to modify activities to complement individual school specific learning objectives and values.

We offer a range of challenging and adventurous outdoor education activities including archery, low ropes, wall climbing, prusiking, bike education, team building activities, mini surf lifesaving carnivals, surfing, stand up paddle boarding, boogie boarding, kayaking and many more.  All activities are run by qualified Outdoor Education instructors.

We also offer environmental and sustainability education programs, artistic programs, pizza making or camp fire cooking and importantly lifeskills.

Broome Camp School conference room also offers a unique setting for your next conference, fully catered and with accommodation. The room comfortably seats between 25-35 people, depending on seating/table arrangements.

Our accommodation sleeps 88 students and staff, in four dormitories with 20 student beds and 2 teacher rooms per dormitory. The four dormitories Joker, Onyx, Kea and Frosty were all named after historic Pearl Luggers.

There are a number of local external providers in Broome used by the camp school which the meet the Department’s excursion management policy.  These include Malcolm Douglas Crocodile Park Tour, Broome History Museum, Willie Creek Pearl Farm Tour, Greg Quicke Astro Tour, Camel Ride Tour along Cable Beach, Yawuru Cultural Tours and many more.

We hope to see you soon at the Broome Camp School.
