Welcome to Broome Camp School

Established 1983, Officially Opened 11th Oct 1984

Broome Camp School is located in Broome (West Kimberley), Western Australia. It is set in absolutely beautiful surroundings with natural bush, lush tropical gardens, wide grassed areas – with magnificent views of spectacular Cable Beach.  Perfect for any school or community group camp.  The only thing limiting what you can do is your imagination!

Broome is unique to anywhere in the world. A history of culture, fossilised dinosaur footprints, pearling, beautiful weather, pristine beaches, and great fishing make it one of Australia’s number one tourist destinations.

The Camp School is the only remaining camp in WA run by the Department of Education and operates within their guidelines. It caters to approximately 2,200 students and adults per year, from approximately 70 schools and community groups largely from the Kimberley and Pilbara areas.  We also have visitors from other parts of WA, Australia and Internationally.

Broome Camp School provides a positive experience for students attending camp; while at the same time providing the opportunity for curriculum linked experiential learning to take place, whilst having the time of their lives! We like to modify activities to complement individual school specific learning objectives and values.

We offer a range of challenging and adventurous outdoor education activities including archery, roping, bike education, team building activities, mini surf lifesaving carnivals, surfing, aqua sports, boarding, boogie boarding, kayaking and many more.  We also offer environmental and sustainability education, artistic, pizza making, camp fire cooking and importantly life skills programs.  All activities are run by qualified Outdoor Education instructors.

Our accommodation sleeps 88 students and staff, in four dormitories with 20 student beds and 2 teacher rooms per dormitory. The four dormitories Joker, Onyx, Kea and Frosty were all named after historic Pearl Luggers.

We can cater for Day, Community and Conference Groups.

There are a number of local external providers in Broome used by the camp school, which meet the Department’s excursion management policy.  Some of these tour include: Malcolm Douglas Crocodile Park, Broome History Museum, Willie Creek Pearl Farm, Greg Quicke Astro Tour, Camel Rides, Yawuru Cultural Tours and many more.

We hope to see you soon at the Broome Camp School.

Students had a fantastic time and would love to return.
Nothing but positive things to say about all BCS staff.

A big hi from Port Hedland! The kids at Saints are still talking about camp, so thank you again for an extraordinary week.
We will be sending you up a little gift before the end of term; something we premiered at assembly today.

‘Thank you for the wonderful opportunity for our Yr 6 students.  Our son has returned a more confident young man after his experience on camp.  He had the time of his life and would just love to re-live it again and again!
